I read one book that is both happy and sad, all in one: Curious incident of the dog in the nighttime by Mark Haddon. ...Or maybe it's sad and funny more than happy. It's sad because the main character Christopher is wandering around in the world alone and overwhelmed without anyone to help him find his mother.It's sort of bittersweet. The dog being dead in the neighbor's front yard, which is how the book starts, is sort of a good example of funny and sad at the same time.
I loved 'curious incident...' Even though I'm not autistic (at least, I don't think I am), I could still identify with Christopher's sense of bewilderment about life.
A book I read recently that made me happy was 'This Place has no Atmosphere.' Probably more appropriate for young readers, though.
A book that made me sad was 'Invisible.' Total downer.
Most books I read are bittersweet. I like stories where there is some kind of challenge. One book I'm reading now is "It's Kind of a Funny Story," and it's about depression. But in a good way.
I also really like Molly Bang's 'Goose.' It's one of my favorite books. Sweet, cute and both happy/sad.
I like reading a lot, but I also love reading books of poetry. I like it when library used to have open mics. They still do, but not a lot. I hope they will have more in summer! It will be fun!
I really like poetry, old kind, new kind. I also love slamming poetry. The library held quite a few open mics for the past weeks.I hope more of them will be held in the summer!Anyway, I like the blog. Feel like I am in the library, yay!
